The OH&S Coordinator will work from our Rimbey location 2-3 days per week (16-24 hours per week) to assist the Corporate Compliance Manager with the day to day operations of the Health and Safety Program currently in place. The successful applicant will monitor the day to day activities to minimize the risk for the business, and the employees, our number one asset! They will assist in promoting occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness. The OH&S Coordinator should be well-versed in all OH&S dictations. The work will be focused on prevention and education rather than enforcement so you need to be diligent but gentle. They will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for the program in effect. The goal is to support the culture of a healthy and safe workplace and act as a resource to the employees.


Responsibilities will include:
• Advising on provisions to minimize safety risks
• Reviewing Incident reports and participating in incident investigations
• Ensuring Contractor Management
• Participating in daily, informal workplace inspections, walk arounds and full facility tours
• Completing formal inspections with JHSC
• Attending safety meetings and JHSC meetings and ensuring minutes are distributed
• Participating and ensuring mock drills are completed
• Monitoring and managing documentation such as emergency contact information, 1st aid training, visitor sign in sheets, safety logs, pre-trips, JHA
• Performing new employees Orientations and assisting in pre-employment set-up
• Ensuring NSC compliance
• Monitoring E-learning
• Ensuring SWP and MSDS are update


We are ideally seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
• Proven experience as a safety coordinator or a similar type role
• In-depth knowledge of the Alberta OH&S Act, Code, and Regulations
• Proficient in MS Office with excellent communication and advisory skills
• Self motivated, reliable, responsible, friendly and hard working
• Commitment to cooperative values and principles
• Diligent with an analytical mind
• QSR from AASP an asset
• HAS, NCSO, OH&S certificate or diploma, law education or another relevant field
• Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
