Evergreen Co-op was proud to support the Black Lung Ultra, held September 12 in Nordegg, bringing athletes, volunteers and spectators together for an incredible day in the heart of Clearwater County.

Now in its third year, the Black Lung Ultra has quickly become a challenging and unique event that showcases the rugged beauty of the Nordegg area. The 62-kilometre ultra marathon takes participants through three demanding stages around Coliseum Mountain, Nordegg Mountain and the historic Nordegg Collieries, with approximately 2,300 metres of elevation gain.

Evergreen Co-op sponsored and volunteered at one of the event’s re-fuelling stations, helping keep runners going with a very important selection of race-day essentials! For athletes taking on such a demanding course, these stops provide a welcome opportunity to refuel, recharge and keep moving toward the finish line.

The event is about more than simply crossing the finish line. It brings people into the community, introduces visitors to the incredible landscapes surrounding Nordegg and provides an opportunity for local volunteers and businesses to come together to support something special.
